5 December 2014 Louisville, Kentucky USA — Welcome. This is Contact Dashboard! The no Internet, Internet.
Out-of-the-box it can do the following:
Any mobile device can connect to Contact Dashboard without using the Internet. Just connect to the Wi-Fi name “Contact Dashboard” and if you’re on an iOS device, it should present the contents in a pop-up window. For Android users visit any non-SSL web page to see its content. International languages are supported.
Any narrative.txt text file on the flash drive is read and copied. Once rebooted, the flash drive is not needed unless you include pictures which are always read from the flash drive. Further, you can change the Wi-Fi name also using a text file named ssid.txt. The name I’ve chosen for the wifi is “Usermac’s Contact Dashboard” in the above video. When the lights has finally settle, its ready-to-go. Upon mobile device connect, you should see the new name “Usermac’s Contact Dashboard” and you should see the new, updated content.
Note that pictures are read from the USB drive. The narrative is copied into the device. If I go to any non-ssl web page using a browser it will show the same narrative. The DNS has been routed so that every request goes to the device’s narrative.
The 3rd function is you can even show a full website! If the device sees an index.html or index.htm file, it will show it. I’ve also changed the SSID using the ssid.txt file with its content “Administrative Directory” in the last demo in the video.
“Contact Dashboard” is a capable, unique, easy-to-use device. In today’s Internet-of-things world, it works alone to serve information — No Internet, Internet.
